The end of the year is in sight, and what a year it’s been! Whether you’re a temporary recruitment agency or one of the many companies who relies on them to fill vacancies, 2025 has been an interesting year to say the least.

From our perspective, things have been ticking along very nicely. Our regular clients have been 100% satisfied with our service, often sending thanks for how we go above and beyond, and there are some new faces too! It has also been a year of growth, and the topics we’ve talked about in this blog have expanded to more than just temp recruitment.

So, for the final blog of 2025, we thought we’d revisit some of those topics, giving you more insight into the industry that you can take into the new year.

Compliance Changes in Temporary Recruitment

In recruiting, it has always been important to keep an eye on compliance and legislative changes. Laws and guidelines are tweaked regularly to help support temporary workers, and to prevent some companies from exploiting them.

Although there haven’t been any major changes this year, we did discuss a few that will be in place from 2026. The biggest is to do with umbrella companies.

From 6 April 2026, new legislation will make recruitment agencies legally responsible for accounting for PAYE and Class 1 National Insurance on payments to workers engaged via umbrella companies. This will help to crack down on fraudulent activity, protecting the rights of workers by ensuring proper consequences for those responsible.

Compliance is a major part of what we do, although it’s not an explicit part of our service. We help our clients to stay compliant with accurate payroll and invoices, which benefit both the agency and the workers themselves, but also keep them abreast of upcoming changes. When you’re working hard, you might miss an announcement until it’s too late to prepare. With us, we’ll give you a nudge if there’s anything you might have missed, and will work with you to ensure you aren’t negatively impacted and instead can gain an advantage under the new guidelines.

The Power of Quality Communication

Legislation updates are far from the only thing we’ll be in touch about when you partner with us. We strongly believe that regular, effective communication is what sets us apart from other third-party recruitment funding providers.

Many agencies are reluctant to work with third parties because they don’t want to feel detached from some of the inner workings of their business, and aren’t keen on handing over the keys to a company they don’t 100% trust to support them.

Switching to a new provider, or using one for the first time, is a stressful experience for even a well-established agency. So we make the transition smooth by providing just two points of contact; your dedicated credit controller and your payroll account manager.

These two experts will handle a lot of the admin for you, but also stay in regular contact. This isn’t just regular reporting (although you can expect plenty of that!), they’ll get to know you and your clients, how you like to work, and even chat more socially to improve your relationship. This goes a long way, and is one of the many reasons why our clients stick around for the long haul.

Supporting Start-Ups Through Tough Times

We work with a mix of well-established and new recruitment agencies. With our blogs we try to give advice that both get value from. Although there’s no doubting their industry experience, companies that have been around for a long time can get complacent, or need to make changes in order to keep up with their ambitious new rivals.

And if you are one of those up-and-coming temporary recruitment agencies, the advice and support we provide is key to your success. Even when budgets are tight, working with a third-party support provider early on in your business journey helps to solidify your operation and ensure you can handle the bumpy road that is the modern recruitment industry.

We try to include as much valuable information in our blogs as we can, never holding anything back or hiding it behind a paywall. Our service speaks for itself, and many recruitment agencies struggle to operate without things like recruitment funding, payroll support, invoicing, and credit control. So offering advice and keeping you up to date with industry changes is something we’re happy to do.

But like we said, being a new recruitment agency is tough. You might have the capital, the clients, and a solid team, but if you don’t have a lot of experience, a small shake can topple the tower. Instead of hiring more permanent staff who aren’t needed yet, work with a third-party recruitment funding provider who will bring in real value.

On top of our service, which helps you to bring in new clients, retain existing ones, and support your workers at all times, you’ll see that because many of our team have a recruitment background, they’ll provide the experience and insight your permanent team is lacking. So if you’re trying to keep your team tight knit, our service will help to free them up, without harming your growth.

We’re Always Looking Forward

Although the future of temporary recruitment may seem uncertain at times, there are a lot of positive things to look forward to. New legislation will protect the rights of temporary workers, which makes temporary work even more appealing that it already is. That means plenty of talented people who are looking for an agency to work with.

If you partner with Back Office Support Services, your database will soon be packed with new candidates, helping you to reach out to more companies and provide them with more options than ever before. We’ll ensure that you always have the funds available to pay them on time, your invoices will be spot on, and you’ll never have to worry about how your clients’ financial issues will affect you.

If you’re a regular reader of our blogs, we hope you’ve enjoyed everything we’ve covered this year. Rest assured that we’ll keep the advice coming, and already have a lot planned for 2026.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about us or our service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. If not, we hope you have a fantastic holiday season and new year! See you soon!
