After all we’ve told you about our Recruitment Funding service, we imagine you’re keen to get signed up. Or maybe you already know how good our service is, but are still a little resistant to make the switch.

So to make the decision even easier, today we’re going to talk about a part of our service that we often forget to mention, and it features the unsung heroes of Back Office Support Services.

That’s right, it’s time to talk about onboarding.

What is Onboarding in Recruitment?

The onboarding process is designed to help you transition from one recruitment funding provider to another, or to make it easier to hand over control to a third party like us.

Switching to us, or signing up for recruitment funding for the first time, is a complicated process, but we try to keep it simple. If you have an existing provider, you’ll need to let them know you’re leaving and when, and then we’ll handle the rest, informing your clients about the switch so they can start getting to know your credit controller and payroll account manager.

Speaking of which…

Bridging the Gap Between Providers

We value the human touch, which is crucial when building an efficient and professional relationship between your agency and your chosen third-party provider.

Even when you know the service we provide will be top notch, it can still be tricky to integrate new people into your operation, especially when their role involves sharing important personal data for you and your clients.

Both your credit controller and payroll account manager will be friendly and approachable to get you off on the right foot. After only a few weeks they’ll start to feel like one of the family. But before that happens, your onboarding manager will help to get things up and running.

They’ll introduce you to your credit controller and payroll account manager, and will guide you through the process while they get set up. If you have any questions, they’re there to answer them, and will be contactable for a while afterwards if there are any future concerns.

The Onboarding Process and Its Importance

For more insight into how onboarding works, we asked Kerry, one of our incredible onboarding managers, to take some time out of her busy schedule to answer questions about the process and why onboarding is so important to us and our clients.

How important is onboarding?

‘Onboarding is very important. It basically sets the base of the relationship and can make or break long-term success. It ensures everyone is clear on each other’s expectations and makes goals & timelines clear.’

The latter cannot be understated. When you switch to a new provider, any downtime will harm your agency. When you’re investing in a service that is designed to support you, the last thing you want is for it to cause your clients or temporary workers any frustration.

But with effective onboarding, it can be a quick process that will barely have an impact on your agency.

How do you approach onboarding for new agencies?

‘With new agencies, I focus on being clear, supportive, and structured. They usually need more guidance around processes, systems, and timeframes along with knowledge. Frequent communication & check ins are also preferable and builds confidence & trust.’

Even when the benefits of recruitment funding are clear, new agencies are often hesitant to sign up. When you’ve built your agency from the ground up, and are starting to see some success, bringing in a third party feels like relinquishing control. After almost 3 decades of working with agencies just like yours, we understand this, and take the time to explain everything we provide to reassure you that you’re making the best decision for your business.

How do you approach onboarding for well-established agencies?

‘Established agencies usually have the knowledge, so with these, I usually focus more on our processes & timelines. I also like to look at what systems/programmes they currently use, to see if we can integrate them with ours, to make the transition more seamless. They take less handholding, but I still carry out regular check-ins to enable the relationship to develop.’

If you’ve been in the recruitment industry for a long time, you know exactly what you need from your recruitment funding provider. Often agencies switch to us because they’re frustrated with the service they received; this bad experience can lead to some scepticism about back-office support as a whole.

Our goal will be to prove the effectiveness of what we do. This requires transparency as we set things up, and then we put our money where our mouth is by showing you what you were missing.
