Ian Humphrey – Managing Director

Ian Humphrey - Managing Director

I set the company up in 1998 following a few years working as Group Finance Director for a large recruitment agency. There I was tasked with killing or curing an in-house back office model. Thankfully I cured it, and learnt a valuable lesson along the way; the recruitment industry was sorely in need of an outsourced back office service that put accuracy and attention to detail first.

Back Office Support Services was the result of this epiphany, and I’m immensely proud of the fact that the company is now one of the leading players in the field. Which is more than I can say about myself – I’ve so far only made the second team at Congleton RUFC. I’m also a long suffering season ticket holder at Manchester City – one can’t win them all!

Janine Ambrose – Sales Development Manager

Janine Ambrose - Sales Development Manager

After a successful career in recruitment, I joined Back Office Support Services in 2011.

I’m a people person, so I absolutely love meeting the agency owners, especially as I know we’re offering them a great service that can make such a huge difference to their business. It’s a joy seeing new start-ups blossom, and also helping established agencies turn themselves around with our help. One particular agency was suffering badly from poor service before they came to us, and I was absolutely over the moon when they told us we had given them back their work / life balance. That’s what it’s all about!

My personal addiction is zumba and I go to as many classes as I can. Maybe I developed a taste for Latin flamboyance while working in Spain and the Dominican Republic as a tour rep before discovering recruitment!

Alison Webster – Payroll Manager

Alison Webster – Payroll Manager

I’m a natural stickler for detail, which makes me the perfect person for the role I’ve been in for the last 15 years.

It’s down to me to ensure that all the contractors and temps are paid and all the agencies are invoiced correctly. I’m also in charge of making sure payrolls are processed accurately and on time, developing the processes and procedures that keep us ahead of the game and keeping the team in the know about any new rules and regulations.

But life’s not all facts and figures. Family and friends are important, too, as are the daily walks with my dog, Max, and holidays in sunny Cyprus. I’m also training up my son, Ryan, for the Great British Bake Off, when he’s old enough!

Louise Mitchell – Finance Manager

Louise Mitchell - Finance Manager

13 years at Back Office Support Services seems to have flown by. As Finance Manager I’m responsible for making all the figures tie up neatly, for the reconciliation of all our clients’ accounts and the preparation of final accounts for audit.

Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than getting it right first time – and working with a team of like-minded people who all care as much as I do about the service we give to our clients.

Away from the office, I like long walks with my dog, Ollie, and long haul journeys to far-flung places like New Zealand and Australia. I adore shopping, girly lunches and aerobics, and, strangely maybe, I also have a passion for cricket!

Jo Lewis – Credit Control Manager and Self Bill Coordinator

Jo Lewis – Credit Control Manager and Self Bill Coordinator

I’ve now managed the credit control team at Back Office Support Services for over 14 years. You could say I’m at the sharp end of the business, ensuring that debt is kept to a minimum and managing the delicate process of recovering it when necessary. I also manage the self-billing team who design and maintain self-bill spreadsheets for all the different systems (MSP, RPO and paid when paid models).

As manager, I get great satisfaction out of keeping the team up to speed on all the latest developments and knowing that we’re delivering a great service to our clients.

Outside work, family fills my time, along with watching football (yes, women like it too!) and unwinding with our two mad dogs.
